Tales from the Road: Adventures Abroad

“What is that feeling when you’re driving away from people and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing? – it’s the too-huge world vaulting us, and it’s good-bye. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies.”

― Jack Kerouac, On the Road

Nothing quite compares to the feeling of exploration, of discovering new places. Stories from the road, of new people met and new dishes tasted, never fail to inspire us. That’s why we asked our BRG Team to tell us about their favorite recent travel experience. Here are some of our favorite submissions. ¡Bon appetit!

Jake Begor, our Piñon Grill Bartender, recently traveled to Breckenridge, where his favorite food spot on the trip was “this really cool little Irish pub in the heart of the downtown mountainside village.” And as for his fave experience? Jake says, “The best thing I did in Breck, was take the Imperial Express lift to the highest easily accessible point in North America, and then shred it all the way down on my Snowboard with some of my best friends.”

Lenor Sawyers had a fabulous time exploring Ontario and Toronto, Canada. The best thing he did in Toronto was take a tour through “one of the most progressive and cleanest cities I have ever visited.” And as for food, Lenor loves a local spot in Mississauga, where he ate Rotti and Caribbean food.

Anne Solomons, Director of Training and HR, had a family-fun trip to remember, when, for 2 weekends back-to-back she celebrated her nephew’s wedding in Vegas, followed by a trip to Baltimore to see her niece’s new home. The highlights were culinary: “In Las Vegas, an incredible meal was at the Red Rock Resort, with filet mignon au poivre. In Baltimore, the Paper Moon Diner was simply fantastic.”

Anne adored her dinners in Vegas. “The dinner with the family at T-Bones Chophouse was definitely the highlight, combining one of the best steaks ever, perfectly prepared, with service to match. It truly reminded me of our own BRG standard of fine dining with a casual and comfortable feeling, including the personal casual connection, while celebrating a special and memorable occasion with family.”
